1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible

About The Car

The Pontiac GTO is one of its kind in Canada and is credited as being the first muscle car. We are going to show it off at our booth to all the car lovers out there.

At first, "GTO" was originally an option on the Pontiac LeMans. It was a different model from 1966 until 1971. In 1967, 9,517 Convertibles were made, and this one was one of them. The very next year, 1968, Motor Trend chose the GTO as its Car of the Year. In the late 1960s, there were some strange changes to American muscle cars. Instead of the taillights with the louvers, now there were eight tail lights, four on each side. Rally II wheels with colorful lug nuts were also available in 1967. The GTO emblems that were formerly situated on the rear fenders were relocated to the chrome rocker panels. The split grille was changed to a grille with some chrome that was shared.

In 1967, there were also changes to the way the GTO worked. The Tri-Power carburetion system was replaced with a single 4-barrel Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. The cylinder bore on the 389 cu in (6.4 L) engine was increased to 4.12 in (104.6 mm), giving it a total displacement of 400 cu in (6.6 L).  For the 1967 model year, new safety gear was needed. A new steering column with a shock-absorbing steering wheel, a padded instrument panel, control knobs that don't stick out, and four-way emergency flashers was also added. There was also an option for a shoulder belt, and the brake master cylinder was changed to one with two reservoirs and a backup hydraulic circuit.

The two-speed automatic transmission was also replaced with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic TH-400, which was equipped with a Hurst Performance dual-gate shifter, called a "his/hers" shifter, that permitted either automatic shifting in "drive" or manual selection through the gears. In 1967, front disc brakes were also available as an option. 1967 GTO sales added up to 81,722 cars.

Why We Chose 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible

What’s not to love about this car? Making a decision was pretty easy. Without a doubt, this 1967 Pontiac GTO is one of the most beautiful muscle cars ever made. We think of it as a classic American beauty with a powerful engine. This vehicle is an S-type muscle car; it is essentially a powerful coupe with a V8 engine. And not to forget it's only one of a kind in Canada. So, how can we let go of such a great opportunity to show it off??

This GTO is a very comfortable and easy-to-use car. It is a very easy car to drive because of the way its transmission works. It has front disc brakes that are powered. Power brakes are made strong by a complicated system of hydraulic parts that work together. They are more reliable and offer immense stopping power. Want to feel its power and beauty? How We Got 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible For The GP Fest

For the Pontiac GTO, The engine was in bad shape, however, with Partsavatar, we were able to get parts to get this car ready for the GP Fest. Starting with the engine, the carburetter was rebuilt along with a new air filter. The valve gasket was toast so it was replaced along with the drive belts and oil filter. The engine had trouble turning over, so the starter and the ignition coil were replaced. To help keep the V8 monster well-ventilated, an aluminum performance radiator was installed along with a new coolant reservoir.

You can never be too sure about reliable brake functioning on a 50+-year-old vehicle so refurbishing it was a no-brainer. We started off replacing the brake master cylinder and then moved on to the brake drums and shoes. V8 engines have a distinctive purr and to keep that intact, Magnaflow exhaust components were used that provide a signature sound with added power. To stiffen up the suspension on the muscle car, new front sway bar bushings were added. Lastly, a set of LED bulbs were used to freshen up the headlights.
