Chrysler Sebring Outer Tie Rod End

The outer tie rod is one of two styles of tie rod end in the vehicle's steering system. It helps transmit power from the steering wheel through the steering gear to the steering knuckle that is mounted on the wheels. The outer tie rod end attaches to the steering knuckle mounted on the wheel with the changing sleeve to set the steering orientation for the vehicle at an angle. This arrangement changes rod length within allowable limits. Hinge points are the tie rod ends between the steering gear, the steering knuckle and the wheel. Both tie rod ends are placed on ball joints.

The outer tie rod end has the purpose of turning the vehicle's wheels forward and backward as instructed by the driver. The outer tie rod axis as the vehicle works on roads with continuous pressure while providing level steering, is up, down, left, and right.

The outer tie rod end connects the steering gear rack with the steering knuckle on the wheels mounted. A setting sleeve between the inner and outer tie rods allows the length of the tie rod end to be adjusted according to the steering angle. The outer tie rod is flexible and helps to modify the tie rod length to match the wheel of the vehicle. When the steering wheel turns, the motion is transmitted through various steering components to the steering gear, until the force reaches the end of the tie rod to turn the front wheels. When the steering wheel turns, the outer tie rod plays a vital role in pulling or pushing the front wheels.

The outer tie rod is at the two ends of the steering gear. The steering knuckle connecting the wheels is attached at one end of the outer tie rod end, while the steering gear mechanism is connected to another.
