Chevrolet Equinox Caster/Camber Adjusting Kits
About Caster/Camber Adjusting Kits
The suspension on every vehicle is designed to certain wheel alignment angles that ensures the safe handling of the vehicle and also uniform tire wear. These angles are decided by taking many considerations and calculations done by the manufacturer to suit that particular vehicle. These angles can be affected when the vehicle's ride height is altered for various reasons. The wheel alignment angles could also change due to the impacts taken by the suspension over time. To restore the alignment angles, a wheel alignment operation is usually performed. However these angles could be adjusted with the help of camber caster adjustment kits that are available in the aftermarket. Depending on their design, they offer a range in which the angles could be changed. The kit includes cam heads which give the provision to change the alignment angles on the basis of their orientation.
What is the purpose of Caster/Camber Adjusting Kits?
A camber caster adjustment kit when installed allows the change of wheel alignment angles, camber and caster, which would not be possible otherwise. An OEM suspension mounts would not allow this change of angles since it is manufactured according to fixed specifications.
How Caster/Camber Adjusting Kits Works?
There are various kits available in the aftermarket. But all of them work on the same principle. Cams are installed in the mounting areas. These cams when changed position change the alignment angles. The change in position of the cams changes the positions of the control arms or the strut shaft which result in the change in camber or caster.
Where is Caster/Camber Adjusting Kits Located?
Depending on the type of kit, they could be replaced with the OEM upper strut mounting or also could be replaced the control arm mountings.
