Chevrolet Equinox Air Conditioning Hose & Evaporator Parts
About Air Conditioning Hose & Evaporator Parts
A/C coolant hoses, or simply A/C hoses, are unique high-quality rubber hoses with crimped aluminum fittings on both ends. These hoses are specially designed to transport highly pressurized refrigerant in gas or liquid state. They are vital A/C parts, and any damage to either of the A/C hoses in your vehicle will prevent your A/C from working properly. The evaporator is the part of the device where air conditioning occurs, which actually cools the car. The A/C device cools by absorbing and extracting heat, and this is achieved in the evaporator. The cool air is blown into the cabin with the help of a blower.
There are two main types of A/c hoses in your car’s air conditioning system, each equipped to hold your refrigerant in a particular state. The A/c suction hose is often referred to as the cold line, return line, or low line because it takes the cold, low-pressure refrigerant back to the compressor from the evaporator. The A/c discharge hose is also known as a high-line liquid hose. This hose brings the refrigerant in a high-pressure liquid state from the compressor to the condenser, where the refrigerant is then cooled before being sent to the evaporator. Another term for this hose is the condenser hose compressor. Compared to the condenser, the evaporator is made of aluminum and comprises a series of pipes covered by fins. However, unlike the condenser, the fins do not transmit heat to the air but transmit heat from the air to the refrigerant. The warm air from the blower fan is cooled as the heat is transferred to the cold evaporator fins. In addition to removing heat and cooling the air, the evaporator also acts as a dehumidifier and eliminates moisture from the air. As the warm air moves through the evaporator surface, the moisture in the air condenses and settles at the bottom of the evaporator case, and then drains through the tube to the atmosphere. That's why you typically see a puddle of water underneath the car on a humid summer day when the A/c is on.
