Chevrolet Camaro Universal Converter
About Universal Converter
The engine's noise should be a pleasing sound, not an obstructed or sputtering sound. Sadly, if the exhaust releases harmful pollutants into the environment, the catalytic converter is responsible for turning such dangerous contaminants into harmless gases, and if it fails, it could actually fail emission tests or cause damage to the engine. Good quality universal catalytic converters keep the emissions under control and ensure the smooth operation of the entire exhaust system. Each converter is designed to achieve the highest level of quality and the required emission certification. Premium-grade ceramic substrate cores are processed to the OE standards of performance and reliability. If the vehicle doesn't have a direct-fit catalytic converter available, you can always go with a universal replacement. You will weigh the current exhaust, and you might need to weld it in place. These universal converters are generally less expensive. Faulty converters will destroy the entire exhaust system and emit to the atmosphere illegal quantities of hazardous emissions. Use a new universal catalytic converter to ensure the exhaust system runs clean and clear. The key benefit of the Universal Catalytic Converter is that one unit can cover a wide variety of vehicle make and models. Installing universal converters also demands that most professional installers use welding, cutting, and tube bending equipment that is readily available. Although catalytic converters are most commonly used in automotive exhaust systems, they are also used on electrical generators, forklifts, mining equipment, trucks, buses, locomotives, and motorcycles. Catalytic converters need a temperature of 800-degrees Fahrenheit (426 ° C) to effectively convert hazardous exhaust gases into inert gases, such as carbon dioxide and water vapor. Therefore, they're put as close as possible to the engine. A clogged catalytic converter can result in vehicle acceleration loss, low gas mileage, and dropout. A fully obstructed catalytic converter or exhaust pipes will cause back pressure exhaust and the engine failure of the vehicle. Inspections of the regular center exhaust system will avoid breakdowns and provide correct operating conditions for the exhaust system. One of the reasons why catalytic converters are so costly is that the catalyst inside this system is made from precious materials like platinum, gold, palladium, and rhodium.
How Universal Converter Works?
A catalytic converter is a large metal box that has two pipes coming out of it, attached to the underside of the car. One of them is attached to the engine and provides the engine cylinders with dry, polluted fumes. The second valve is inserted into the tailpipe. As the gases from the engine fumes blow over the catalyst, chemical reactions occur on its surface, breaking up the polluting gases and converting them into other gases that are safe enough to blow out into the air harmlessly. The catalytic converter is an exhaust emission control device which by catalyzing a redox reaction reduces toxic gases and pollutants in exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine to less-toxic pollutants. Catalytic converters are commonly used for either gasoline or diesel-powered internal combustion engines.
Where is Universal Converter Located?
The catalytic converter lies between the muffler and the engine. The catalytic converter looks very similar to a muffler, but before and after the converter, there is an oxygen sensor mounted.
