      Bosch oxygen sensors are also known as the lambda sensors and they are thimble and planar switching sensors that are designed to meet or exceed OE specifications. Bosch oxygen sensors were first developed in 1976 and it has been over 40 years since they invented the oxygen sensors. Bosch grew its production right after Volvo 240/260-series became the first passenger car to be equipped with Bosch oxygen sensor as it became an essential tool for fuel efficiency and the reduction of CO2 emissions. Bosch has produced 1 billion oxygen sensors to date and they continue to lead the market with its high-quality reputation; an attribute that has defined Bosch since its inception.

                  Kept getting the P0420 code during long hauls, so I switched out both O2 sensors. Haven't seen that pesky code since, and my gas mileage is as good as it's ever been, even on a 19-year-old car with over 276,800 kilometers. These parts do wear out, but don't sweat it, the swap isn't tough—just be sure to have an O2 sensor socket ready.
