What is a core deposit charge, and how to get it refunded?
In the auto parts world, there are parts that can be recycled or remanufactured and the item you have selected falls under this category. The customer pays the core deposit at the time of purchase of this item. After receiving their new part, the buyer will send back their old part, or "core". Once the core is returned to the seller and it has been inspected to ensure it is rebuild-able and resell-able, the core deposit is fully refunded to the buyer. Got this for my 2001 GMC 1500HD and it arrived well-packaged from AC/Delco. There's an extra mounting ear that my truck doesn't need, but it didn't get in the way. Made a bit of noise at first, like it was bringing a dead battery back to life, but a month in and it's running quiet and smooth. If it keeps this up, I'll be a happy camper. It's got solid reviews and for the price, which seems pretty legit at roughly $280 CAD, I'd recommend it from what I've seen.

It's the real deal. AC Delco remanufactured Delphi alternator, much better than the new off-brand alternatives. Still waiting on the rebate after mailing back the core, though.

This remanufactured part works great, definitely the one to buy over a new ACDelco alternator. The remanufactured version is far superior to the made-in-China alternatives! Please, go for the remanufactured one, not the new.
